Fellowship Prayer Chain app update

Fellowship Prayer Chain

Our church has used the REMIND app for several years to send out prayer requests and church-wide announcements to our members. Unfortunately, the Remind app has not been sending these notifications to all of our members on a consistent basis, so we are now searching for an alternative app/system to keep all of our members informed of timely information.

The first alternative system we will test is the GroupMe app. We have created a chat within the app named “Fellowship Prayer Chain & Announcements.” All names and telephone numbers currently subscribed to the prayer chain on Remind have been transferred to GroupMe, but we still need to verify that you receive the messages.

Test notifications will be sent out at 6:30pm on Friday, May 9 and at 9:00am on Saturday, May 10. IF YOU RECEIVE the test notifications via TEXT or the GroupME App, no further action is needed on your part and you should receive all future notifications without issue. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE the notifications, the most likely scenarios are that your phone is filtering text messages from unknown numbers OR you have an existing GroupMe account but have logged out of or deleted the app. Take these steps:

  1. Check your phone settings to make sure you aren’t filtering messages from unknown numbers.
  2. Download the GroupMe mobile app for iPhone or Android, or open the GroupMe Website.
  3. Choose the “Log In” option using your email address, phone number, or social media account. Click the “forgot password” link to reset your password if you cannot log in.
  4. If your email address or phone number is not recognized, create a new account.
  5. Once you have logged into the app on your phone or desktop, click this link to access the prayer chain: https://groupme.com/join_group/107535954/T27xyIjS

If you want to receive future notifications via TEXT MESSAGE rather than through the app, click your profile pic, select “Settings”, select “Enable SMS delivery”, and then select “Always use SMS”

Your feedback is critically important as we evaluate whether or not GroupMe will be a more efficient, reliable tool than Remind, so please let Chris, Will, or Bro. Robbie know if you do or do not receive the notifications!
