Our church family will embark on a three-week prayer journey beginning Sunday, January 15, 2023. These 21 Days of Prayer at Fellowship will include new prayer focus each day, three Wednesday evening prayer meetings, and will conclude with an outreach event.
Details for 21 Days of Prayer at Fellowship, including each day’s prayer focus and scripture, can be found below. Printed prayer guides will also be available in the sanctuary foyer, and each day’s prayer focus will be published on our social media accounts.
We encourage every member of our church family to join us in this 21 days of prayer and respond as led by the Holy Spirit.
Week One
Day 1 – Sunday, January 15
- Prayer Focus: Worship His Name
- Explanation: Spend the first day in acknowledgment of who God is. So many times we take the time to notice what God does for us. Let us spend today reflecting and verbalizing the attributes of our God and how amazing he truly is.
- Scripture: Proverbs 9:10 – “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”
Day 2 – Monday, January 16
- Prayer Focus: Confession
- Explanation: After acknowledging who God is on Day 1, let’s spend day two confessing who we are. We are imperfect people serving a perfect God. Let us spend the day examining ourselves and bringing our sins to the one who is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us.
- Scripture: 1 John 1:9 – “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
Day 3 – Tuesday, January 17
- Prayer Focus: Thankfulness
- Explanation: Now that we have established who God is and who we are, let us spend the day in thanksgiving marveling at the goodness of God. Take time today to thank God not for just who is but specifically what he has done for you.
- Scripture: Psalms 100:4 – “Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.”
Day 4 – Wednesday, January 18
- Prayer Focus: God’s Providence
- Explanation: Today let us come boldly before the throne room of grace and make our petitions known. Pray for healings, family members, breakthroughs, deliverances, marriages, etc.
- Scripture: Hebrews 4:16 – “So let us boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
- Wednesday Evening Prayer Service Theme: Personal Relationship Focus
Day 5 – Thursday, January 19
- Prayer Focus: Being Humble before God
- Explanation: Let us concentrate on humbling ourselves and openly admitting that we can not do it by ourselves. Today let’s seek God’s face and turn from all unrighteousness so he will hear our prayers and heal our land.
- Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive them and restore their land.”
Day 6 – Friday, January 20
- Prayer Focus: The Faithfulness of God
- Explanation: Today let us dwell on how faithful God has been to us. He will never leave us or forsake us. Let’s spend some time in prayer thanking him for sticking closer than a brother and always being there in our time of need.
- Scripture: Psalms 36:5 – “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.”
Day 7 – Saturday, January 21
- Prayer Focus: Clear Picture / Need for Christ in my Life
- Explanation: Today we ask God to give us a clear picture of our need for him. Let us meditate on the goodness and perfection of Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
- Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
Week Two
Day 8 – Sunday, January 22
- Prayer Focus: Your Purpose
- Explanation: Pray for God to begin to show you your purpose in life and where He wants to put you to work for him.
- Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'”
- Sunday Sermon Topic: Jesus and ME
Day 9 – Monday, January 23
- Prayer Focus: Glow Kids / The Inn Crowd
- Explanation: Let’s pray for God’s blessings on our church children. Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal the saving knowledge to Jesus Christ to our children.
- Scripture: Matthew 19:14 – “But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.'”
Day 10 – Tuesday, January 24
- Prayer Focus: Adults
- Explanation: Pray for the Adult Sunday School classes as well as all the adult members of our church. Pray for spiritual growth in our church and that every member will find their place to serve the body.
- Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:8 – “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
Day 11 – Wednesday, January 25
- Prayer Focus: WMU & Brotherhood
- Explanation: Pray for our WMU and Brotherhood Ministries. Pray for outreach opportunities and for the missions supported by our church.
- Scripture: Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
- Wednesday Evening Prayer Service Theme: Church Focus
Day 12 – Thursday, January 26
- Prayer Focus: Current Leaders & Deacons
- Explanation: Pray for the current leaders, deacons and elders of our church. Let us pray blessings over them and their families as well as praying for discernment and wisdom as they make decisions for our church.
- Scripture: 1 Timothy 5:17 – “Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.”
Day 13 – Friday, January 27
- Prayer Focus: Pastor Search Committee
- Explanation: Pray that God grants wisdom and discernment to the search committee as they pursue candidates for our lead pastor position.
- Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on our own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Day 14 – Saturday, January 28
- Prayer Focus: Our Future Pastor
- Explanation: Pray for our future Pastor. Pray that our hearts will be ready to respond to his leadership and that we would be ready to follow his direction.
- Scripture: Hebrews 13:7 – “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.”
Week Three
Day 15 – Sunday, January 29
- Prayer Focus: Vision and Mission of the Church
- Explanation: Pray for the Vision and the Mission of Fellowship Baptist Church. Pray that as a church body we will be responsive to his commandments and to the direction he sets out in front of us.
- Scripture: Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.”
- Sunday Sermon Topic: Jesus and WE
Day 16 – Monday, January 30
- Prayer Focus: Outreach Committee
- Explanation: Pray for the Outreach Committee and for opportunities for our church to make a difference in our community. Pray that we as a church will be willing to go outside our comfort zone and go make a difference for the Kingdom of God.
- Scripture: Mark 16:15 – “And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
Day 17 – Tuesday, January 31
- Prayer Focus: The Lost in our Community
- Explanation: Pray for the lost in our community. Pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal opportunities for us to join him in his redemptive plan.
- Scripture: Luke 19:10 – “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”
Day 18 – Wednesday, February 1
- Prayer Focus: Opportunities to Minister to the Apathetic
- Explanation: Let us pray for the apathetic in our community. Pray that God will stir their hearts and use us to do his work in these last days.
- Scripture: Ephesians 5:16 – “Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.”
- Wednesday Evening Prayer Service Theme: Community Focus
Day 19 – Thursday, February 2
- Prayer Focus: Caring for Orphans and Widows
- Explanation: Let us pray for the Widows and Orphans in our community. Pray that God will give us opportunities to show love to these two groups.
- Scripture: James 1:27 – “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for Orphans and Widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
Day 20 – Friday, February 3
- Prayer Focus: Churches in Lamar County
- Explanation: Pray for all the other churches in Lamar County. Pray for unity, harmony and singularity of purpose. Let us pray blessings on our brethren and pray for expanded influence of The Church in our county.
- Scripture: Psalms 133:1 – “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!”
Day 21 – Saturday, February 4
- Prayer Focus: Missionaries and the Persecuted Church
- Explanation: Pray for the persecuted church and for missionaries around the world. Pray for their safety as well as for favor in the communities they are reaching.
- Scripture: Romans 8:35 – “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?”
